CLSTR
CLSTR ceramic wall installation

#CLSTR

CLSTR moves away from perfection. Each GSTR is hand-built, shaped from a combination of gestures — traces visible, edges unresolved, outcomes accepted. 10,000 fragments. Five years, full time. Distributed across many spaces, not one. You don't own the whole. You own a part.

The Project

CLSTR is a ceramic artwork composed of unique sculptural elements. Each unit (GSTR) is numbered and contributes to a system that can grow over time, ranging from intimate groupings (patches) to large-scale installations (fields).

Each element is hand-built in stoneware, glazed, high-fired, and documented. CLSTR exists as a dispersed network of GSTRs across private interiors and architectural spaces.

By weight

GSTRs are sold by weight, not by size or by appearance. Each fragment carries its own gestures — refusing the hierarchy that would set one above another. The price per kilogram evolves with the project.

The Modular System

CLSTR is a decentralised artwork. Each GSTR exists physically on a collector's wall, within private interiors, or as part of larger architectural projects. The complete work can never exist in one single location.

Patches & Fields

A small group of GSTRs installed together is called a Patch. Patches function as intimate clusters within private interiors.

When the installation expands to architectural scale — hundreds or thousands of elements — it is referred to as a Field.

Not different objects, but different densities of the same work.

Certification

Each GSTR is signed, numbered, and recorded in the archive. Numbering is continuous up to 10,000.

The packaging functions as a certificate. Do not throw it away.

It contains the GSTR number and recorded weight. If packaging is lost, a replacement certificate can be issued.

The 10,000 finale

The work is dispersed — and stays that way. By the project's end, around 2030, all 10,000 fragments will live across hundreds of walls, never reunited in person.

Once. Online. At completion, every GSTR will be brought together into a single virtual composition — the only moment the complete CLSTR will exist as one work.
